An intelligent BBU has built-in functionality to charge thebattery pack automatically and to communicate batterystatus information such as voltage, temperature, and current,to the host computer system. The LSIiBBU01 does not connect directly to the MegaRAIDcontrollers. Instead, it uses the supplied 20-pin, 12-inchcable to connect remotely to a controller. The LSIiBBU01must be mounted inside the chassis within 10 inches of theRAID controller.Because server and workstation chassis vary from vendor tovendor, there is no standard mounting option that iscompatible with the various system configurations. TheLSIiBBU01 battery kit contains only the battery and thecable, allowing VAR’s and chassis manufacturers tocustomize the location of the remote battery to provide themost flexibility within various environments. The LSIiBBU01 combines a battery pack with adaughtercard. Figure 1 shows the top view and the bottom view of the LSIiBBU01, the M2.50-0.45 x 5mm screws, andthe 6mm standoffs. (The “top” side is the side that you cansee after you install the iBBU on the RAID controller.)
